Realme has been aggressively releasing smartphones. Just few days back they launched their first quad camera phones, the Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro, and now they are coming up with a new phone, Realme XT. Earlier Xiaomi announced that it planned to launch the Redmi Note 8 Pro with a 64-megapixels camera. Realme has decided to rain on their parade by launching the Realme XT, the world’s first 64-megapixels smartphone.

Design & Display

On the design side, Realme XT is both familiar and different. Unlike the Realme X which had a pop-up selfie camera, Realme XT does not come with a pop-up camera. This phone has a 6.4-inch AMOLED panel with a water drop notch. AMOLED panel means Realme XT comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor. This is the first phone from the company that offer glass on the back. The rear panel is curved around the edges to offer a comfortable grip. To protect the glass on the back, Realme provides Gorilla Glass protection.
Back panel is clean and minimalist with just a vertical quad camera setup on the left corner. the phone comes with white and blue gradient colours. The panel makes straight and curved lines to make it more premium under light.
There is a metal frame surrounding the device. On the right there is a power button with yellow accent and volume keys on the left. On the bottom there is a Type-C port, 3,5mm headphone jack and a single speaker grille. Realme XT is smaller than the Realme X and is lighter too at 183 grams.

Cameras

The quad camera setup on the back includes a 64-megapixels Samsung GW1 sensor. The Realme XT and the upcoming Redmi Note 8 Pro are among the first phones to use Samsung’s high resolution sensor. The 64-megapixels camera uses pixel binning, Tetracell technology as Samsung calls it, to combine 16-megapixel shots together to offer a bright, detailed photo. There is also a full 64-megapixels mode in the settings menu as well, which should only be used in limited, daylight scenarios.
The other three cameras are similar to what Realme offers with the Realme 5 series. An 8-megapixel ultra wide-angle lens, a 2-megapixel macro lens and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The main camera gets EIS support and also supports Nightscape, Chroma Boost and HDR. On the front there is a 16-megapixels Sony IMX471 selfie shooter.
The main camera does impress in daylight with HDR offering good support in tricky lighting conditions. Colours look good even with Chroma Boost enabled. When comparing to Realme X’s 48-megapixels camera, the difference in picture quality is not that big. Having a 2-megapixel sensor, macro camera doesn,t offer the best clarity or detail……
